More about YSR Reading Program
Not all reading programs are created equal. Many approaches rely on guessing strategies, cueing systems, and memorization rather than explicit, systematic instruction. These methods can leave struggling readers without the tools they truly need.
Young Stars Read is different. YSR follows a Structured Literacy model grounded in the Science of Reading. Instruction is explicit, systematic, and sequential, ensuring students master the foundational skills required for lasting reading success.
Instead of teaching children to rely on pictures or context clues, YSR builds strong readers through direct instruction in:

✅ Phonics – decoding through sound-symbol relationships
✅ Fluency – developing automatic word recognition

Who Am I?
My name is Carlo. I am a literacy specialist teacher in my North Shore school district. Before this role, I spent over 20 years teaching early primary, primarily Kindergarten, where I helped hundreds of children build strong reading foundations.
Today, I work with students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 who need a clearer, more structured path to reading success.

Rates and Information
ALL SESSIONS ARE IN THE CLIENT'S HOME
Available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (3:15–4:30pm)
Initial Literacy Assessment Consultation – 60 minutes – $60
A comprehensive literacy assessment identifying your child’s strengths and areas of need. The assessment examines phonological and phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, word recognition, and comprehension.
Following the assessment, parents or caregivers will receive a clear explanation of results and next steps.
A parent or caregiver must remain present for the full assessment.
Direct Personalized Intervention – 30 minutes: $35
Targeted, individualized structured literacy intervention based on assessment results.
